Sandra Rupp's Davos Diary: The Yin & Yang of Leadership

One of my 1st mentors was the legendary Al Masini who created many TV programs including one of the longest running Entertainment Tonight. More recently I have used creativity as a 21st Century Executive Coach, Advisor & Supporter of Leaders & Brands who like me are Innovators in Conscious Capitalism. One of my key themes is The Yin & Yang of Leadership. Masculine + Feminine Leadership = 21st century success. I am also a Speaker, Writer and advocate for CareersSustainability, Inclusion, Advertising, Media, Innovation, Governance, Women. My Videos and Tweets helped get me (and my messages) to Davos, Cannes Lions, and on Thinkers 50 Guru Radar list. I helped get Women into Augusta with 4 months of Tweets & a YouTube Video sent to @BillGates, @RealDonaldTrump@BoonePickens, @Jack_Welch, @PiersMorgan & @BubbaWatson among others. Media has always been a passion (I was Co-President of the Media & Communications Club when I received my Kellogg MBA many years ago). If you would like to contact me to discuss being your Brand Ambassador, Executive Coach or Creative Strategist for Digital and Social Media please email info@parthenonadvisors.com  My 2012 Davos Video was a Top Video on Twitter all week during World Economic Forum (ditto for Cannes Lions). QUOTE: “Leadership can look like this.” ~ Sandra Rupp @ExecCareerCoach, Cannes Lions 2012

I am delighted to share my final video in my Cannes Lions series. Thanks to many of you my Feminine Leader Voice Video – in my prior post was a Top Video on Twitter all week for “Cannes Lions” during the 2012 Ad Festival for Creativity. My second video was also a Top Video for #CannesLions. I created a media event by sharing three photos of what Leadership Can LOOK Like in the 21st Century (in red, white & blue). I was so happy that @Jack Dorsey, Founder of Twitter, was named MEDIA PERSON OF THE YEAR. After all, Yin + Yang = 21st Century Success. From Davos to Boards to Cannes Lions, the Feminine/Yin Voice is becoming increasingly popular. I am delighted that companies & people are seeing the economic advantages of embracing their “Feminine” or Yin Sides in the 21st Century. In my next video post, I will be discussing the topics of Conscious Capitalism & Sustainability. Stay tuned.  In the meantime, I reveal in this video some of the CEOs who have inspired me in “The Yin & Yang of Leadership.” I am also seeking a Sponsor to launch a Radio Show & Video Show on 21st Century Innovation & Job Creation. Learn more in this video. Best wishes, Sandra Rupp Contact: www.parthenonadvisors.com & www.sandrarupp.com

UPDATE Sandra’s Cannes Lions Videos were Top VIDEOS on Twitter for a Search of “Cannes Lions” all week during the Ad Festival for Creativity. THE FEMININE Leader VOICE (also a Top Image on Day One on Twitter)  has arrived at Cannes. Yin/Yang.

ORIGINAL POST: Leaders, I participated in the Mofilm Video Contest for Cannes Lions this year. I submitted videos for three brands. Here I share thoughts on why the Feminine Voice is so important to the Ad & Media industries . I read recently that television viewing can decrease self-esteem in children except for white males via Science Daily. I got to thinking, what if we had stronger Feminine and Diversity Role Models in television programming and in advertising. My father was a pioneer in the Broadcasting business running a company, and one of my first post-MBA jobs years ago was working in Media, so this topic is important to me. I read in Ad Age that just 3% of Creative Directors at Ad Agencies are women, yet women are such a creative group! We have 16% female Board members in the US, so this figure is surprisingly low.  There is even a 3% conference being organized to discuss it (gentlemen, you are invited & to help sponsor it). Did you know up to 85% of the people who make or influence purchasing decisions are the Ladies? I would love to work together with CEOs to get more of a Feminine/Yin Leader Voice in Advertising. Here is an interesting article from Fast Company called “The Case for Girls.” My strong hunch is that we would create a stronger economy and world if everyone had great role models that they could identify with…and yes, you can wear a pretty dress and be a leader!

Leaders, I have a request: if you are putting together a panel of speakers, please make sure the panel is as diverse as the audience. Here are more thoughts. I look forward to your thoughts as well. Yin/Yang. And fingers crossed for more feminine voice winners at Mofilm & Cannes Lions. Best wishes from Sandra. Contact: www.parthenonadvisors.com www.sandrarupp.com
