Snapshot 2 (1-11-2020 12-43 PM)When I started The Davos CEO Pledge, I assumed I would get 30-40% women to World Economic Forum within a few years because as a former executive search consultant, I knew the top female talent was available. I asked the world’s top CEOs to help me – men who were written up in articles & admired by the press. Today, after working diligently to get the percentage from just 15% women to 22%, I realize there is a much bigger issue. Some Davos Men have secrets, and until we address this issue, we will not get a healthy representation of the seasoned women leaders ages 45-65+ to achieve inclusive economic growth. A major obstacle is the PR Industrial Complex which spins stories to make these CEOs look good. Meantime some of these CEOs & Board members are taking advantage of highly intelligent women. Older male CEOs promoting the idea of hiring young millennials is a recipe for disaster, because it leaves out the amazing, experienced women with wisdom. Here I discuss two Davos CEOs (Martin Sorrell & Jeff Bezos in the MeToo era) & Success Coach Tony Robbins. My goal since 2011 is 30-40% women leaders at Davos & Cannes Lions. For anyone willing to help me achieve my dream, please get in touch on Linked In. As positive & hopeful as I have been in my initial posts, dealing with Davos CEOs, Board members & Billionaires is not always pretty: WATCH

QUOTE: “Women enable success.” Muhtar Kent, CEO of Coca Cola

It am delighted to announce THE DAVOS CEO CHALLENGE Award Winners for 2016. I also have a special announcement which is: The Davos Challenge will now become THE DAVOS CEO PLEDGE for 2016-2017. This has always been my goal on how we will inspire other CEOs. Anchoring this Pledge, I am asking CEOs to commit to bring two or more female delegates to World Economic Forum 2017 and to ask other CEOs to follow their lead. I am also asking all Female CEOs to bring at least one other female delegate (a must have). With these two actions, I believe that within three years, we will achieve 30% Women at World Economic Forum. If you would like to participate or sponsor The Davos CEO Pledge, please contact Executive Coach Sandra Rupp at www.parthenonadvisors.com  I invite all CEOs to interview with me on camera. Subscribe to YouTube Channel & Follow Tweets @ExecCareerCoach I have met the nicest leaders on Twitter and YouTube. And now Click to Meet my Heroes:

I was really excited that World Economic Forum had for the first time 3 of 6 Female Co-Chairs this year (a record 50% Women)! Many thanks to my CEOs, FT Alphaville, WSJ, Fast Company, Forbes as well as my favorite Thinkers 50 colleagues as I put my heart & soul into this project over the last two plus years. My Davos CEO Challenge 2016 was to five of my Favorite CEOs (data at Quartz website).

Coca Cola: 2 Female Delegates of 5 =40% Women (more than his major competitor and up from 0 last year) Many thanks Muhtar Kent!

WPP Group: 1 Female Delegate of 2 for parent co. = 50% Women (Sir Martin Sorrell my favorite Math Man)!

Citigroup: 1 Female Delegate, but Michael Corbat had 2 Female Delegates in 2015 as previous winner!

Unilever: 1 Female Delegate, but Paul Polman gets Honorary Award as he appointed two women to his CEO team during the Challenge, so he is likely to have more Doves at Davos next year. Many thanks Paul!

Since Virgin didn’t list any delegates, we’re adding Bank of America4 Female Delegates of 7 = 57% Women! Way to go Brian Moynihan. And Sir Richard I’d love your support on the CEO Pledge.

The most important thing I learned from this Challenge: sometimes CEOs surprise you, but above all feelings count for both men & women. While I believe the talent is available for 30% Women at Davos, I think there are some ongoing myths about Women in Business Leadership. So I initiated a creative “Cannes Lions” strategy this year (with pretty dresses) to help “rebrand” the Look & Feel of Leadership asking: What Does Leadership Look Like to You? In my 20+ years of global executive search & executive coaching experience, I don’t believe home issues are holding back executive-level appointments for women in business at the larger companies. Executive women have high incomes to hire help and many have older children or no children (not one of my Fortune 100 clients has ever mentioned this as their obstacle). I also don’t think women need to be more aggressive or less feminine. Indeed if anything the world has too much masculine energy! We see war looming and the highest economic inequality: these things will only be solved by what I call The Yin & Yang of Leadership. Inclusion now makes companies more profitable and helps avoid risky decisions. There was only one CEO, not in the challenge, who got upset with me when I asked the WSJ why he had only one woman on his CEO Team, but soon after he was sending his male executives to be counseled on that topic!

The world needs more Executive Women and baby boomer Female Founders at Davos (because 90% of US Female Founders – the most educated talent on the planet- are oddly one person companies). We need some creative brainstorming. While I couldn’t sleep for three nights when I saw the 18% overall Women in attendance at Davos, I rest better knowing I have five plus heroes here. CEOs & CHROs, I coach Executive Teams on Leadership, Talent Acquisition, Executive Communication, and Inclusive Advertising. I am currently working with a Silicon Valley CEO and coaching three men and women on his team. After donating six figures of video time, I do need more executive coaching work now. I will also be launching my 1st DVD/Video on Amazon on How to Navigate a 21st Century Career for my Viewers in 65 Countries. I am honored to have you watching. PS CEOs: You might see me in more suits now, but with the help of Paul Polman, Sir Martin & my other CEOs, there will be a lot more Doves descending upon Davos. I could have never achieved all of this without all of you! Yin/Yang.

Final Thoughts:

Let’s call it Gender Parity. We need more positive (and feminine) energy. Indeed the World Economic Forum tweeted a survey that key skills for 2020 include Creativity, Emotional Intelligence, and Critical Thinking skills. I couldn’t agree more as my history/arts degree is to me as valuable as my Kellogg MBA. Special Thanks to Paul Murphy at the Financial Times who has three daughters and has followed my videos, as well as to Don Tapscott, Bill George & Tom Peters.

LEADERS, I am excited to share a brand New Davos Woman Challenge  2016 with my Favorite Davos CEOs. I am asking them to “Trade Places” for one day with a CEO Female Founder age 45+ with a Top School MBA & interview with me on camera. Yes I plan to choose a seasoned Harvard MBA Alum for WPP CEO Sir Martin Sorrell! I want to choose myself for Unilever CEO Paul Polman as I have the marketing Kellogg MBA and know a lot about his amazing Sustainable Living Plan. We will find a super creative Stanford MBA Alum for Virgin CEO Sir Richard Branson, and we need a charismatic Cass B-School Alum for Coca Cola CEO Muhtar Kent. I have a smart Wharton finance Alum for Citi CEO Michael Corbat; after all he won The Davos Woman Challenge last year by bringing two female delegates to World Economic Forum. Davos CEOs are all cordially invited to interview with me on camera, sponsor the process & even make the final edits. With so many talented baby boomer ladies available with a mix of Corporate & CEO Founder experience, I figure my Davos CEOs will be extending offers to join their CEO Teams after just one day. And then we will have more female delegates for Davos! OUR GOAL: 30% Women. Watch the EXCLUSIVE INVITE VIDEO here:

In terms of your Leadership style, are you a Hawk or a Dove? Did you know that it is the Highly Sensitive of any species that are the key to survival? Do you have the gene for High Sensitivity or High Sensation Seeking? Some of the most dynamic CEOs and Leaders in the world I have met have both genes, because they know how to take risks but also manage risk. Click here to take both Tests. Read this post by Dr. Elaine Aron at www.hsperson.com  to learn more. I am a Highly Sensitive Leader (a Dove), and I believe we need more Doves at World Economic Forum to help tackle the most pressing issues of the decade including Income Inequality, the Gender Gap and Terrorism. I am inviting Paul Polman, Imran Khan & other leaders to help me.

“Paul Polman is handsome & intelligent, but he needs more  Women on his CEO ULE Team. #SpeakBeautiful” @ExecCareerCoach (update: he now has more)

Happy Women’s Day. While I know Unilever had good intentions, I am surprised they singled out women in their #SpeakBeautiful campaign (note: Dove has a men’s care line too). As soon as it hit Twitter I tweeted back to PR CEO Richard Edelman on Oscar’s Day “Please tell Paul…They can do better.” In this video I explain to CMO Keith Weed & Dove SVP Stephen Miles why I think it’s time to drop the word “Beauty” from the Dove campaign, revamp it with something fresh & positive, and even use this as an opportunity to hire more Women Executives. As some of you know Paul is one of my five favorite Davos CEOs, and I helped him clean up the Axe & Lynx Ads through my prior videos – I love Clean Cut and Axe Peace But Unilever needs my help again as I read these headlines:

“Dove’s #SpeakBeautiful campaign is the ugliest thing on the internet today.” Caitlin Dewey in Washington Post

“Is Dove’s #SpeakBeautiful Twitter Campaign an ‘Egregious Overstep’?” headline in Ad Age

My Question for Dove: By pointing out something negative about women are you really raising their self esteem? #SustLiving

“Our brands are 80% there to serve women.” CEO Unilever to Davos “The era of women is coming.”

Note to Paul: the era of women leaders is here! P&G has many Women on their CEO Team. I volunteer to be your Chief Creative Consultant & here’s my idea for Dove to lead the way across the Consumer Goods, Advertising & PR world to #PaintItPurple & be the hero. Watch:

Sandra Rupp is delighted to share her THINKERS 50 message for 2013 including highlights of the last two years: Did you know her Myers Briggs Type is a combination of Albert Einstein & Princess Diana?

LEADERS Many of you helped place me on the THINKERS50 GURU RADAR list for the world’s Top Business Thinkers in 2011. From Davos to Augusta to Cannes Lions to NACD and the Conference Board, I have spread the message of “The Yin & Yang of Leadership” ~ Feminine Leadership + Masculine Leadership = 21st Century Success. My videos have been Top Videos on Twitter & YouTube during these events thanks to many of you. I took this honor very seriously and for the last two years have worked diligently on Executive Coaching, Videos, Speaking & Social Media. WHY? Because status quo thinking about Women & Leadership (including books encouraging them to be more like men) is not working & will never work for the majority of women. That is why I have CHOSEN to take my thinking to VIDEOS & Multimedia. Indeed we must invest in women & men for who they are & embrace The Feminine Leadership Style in all its glory. My goal is to change the LOOK & FEEL of LEADERSHIP.

I believe that The Yin & Yang of Leadership is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT additions to Management Thinking in decades. Feminine Leadership + Masculine Leadership = 21st Century Success. I am honored that THINKERS 50 chose me for their Guru Radar list for the world’s top business thinkers from 2011-2013. I am so touched by all your notes & votes. Many thanks to fellow thinkers Don Tapscott, Bill George & Tom Peters for their support in the last two years! Yin + Yang.

CEO ScoreBoard GOAL: 30AthenaBlue%+ WOMEN

Muhtar Kent, CEO Coca Cola = 20% Score

Michael Dell, CEO Dell = 10% Score

Paul Polman, CEO Unilever, ULE Team = Sandra got it to 15% so far.

Michael Corbat, Citigroup 8% (Michael added 2nd Lady = 8% after Sandra issued Challenge). Welcome Jane!

Martin Sorrell, WPP Group = TBD (Note: still gathering info but Sir Martin said in Reuters interview that women are often better at advertising after Sandra’s January Video to him)

ScoreBoard = % Women on CEO Teams (gathered from websites of these companies in March 2013).

Her plan was inspired by @WarrenBuffett among others. Sandra is also inviting all Davos CEOs to meet & interview with her on camera. View a Special Message here: Sandra placed on the THINKERS 50 Guru Radar list for the world’s top business thinkers from 2011-13. This year the % women at World Economic Forum remained flat at 17% despite a continuous selection of talented women. In 1988 40% of her entering Kellogg MBA class was female. She is confident she can help these CEOs and their Chief Human Resources Officers find 30%+ talented ladies to fill these roles. She has a background in Global Executive Search and Executive Coaching. Thought Leader & Advisor on “The Yin & Yang of Leadership.” Masculine Leadership + Feminine Leadership = 21st Century Success. CEOs, to schedule your video appointments, please contact: www.parthenonadvisors.com Click to Davos Challenge Playlist on YouTube & Meet the CEOs.

I am delighted to share the details of this challenge with you and with five of my FAVORITE DAVOS CEOs: Paul Polman of Unilever, Sir Martin Sorrell of WPP Group, Michael Corbat of Citigroup, Muhtar Kent of Coca Cola, and Michael Dell of Dell.

Here I invite the CEOs to contact me to schedule an on camera interview. I have handpicked five CEOs to lead the way on getting 30% Women to Davos. As the winds blow cold in Davos, we will be plotting a strategy here in Florida to make all CEOs worthy of their Catalyst Awards, the McKinsey research Women Matter, and the other awards they are picking up. The percent of women at Davos (just 17%!) remained flat this year, but we have a master plan to fix that. With the CEOs’ permission, we want to film a portion of the meetings to help lead the way for all their female customers. I am confident these five CEOs & their CHROs will understand the importance of my plan which was inspired by Warren Buffett among others. Contact: www.parthenonadvisors.com

Sandra Rupp is a 21st Century Executive Coach and was placed on the THINKERS 50 Guru Radar list for the world’s Top Business Thinkers from 2011-13. She has experience in Global Executive Search, Media & Executive Coaching, a Kellogg MBA and studied at Oxford. In 2011 she was placed on the Davos Debates Video of Selected Entrants stating that Investing in & Empowering The Feminine Leadership Style is the largest economic opportunity worldwide. She is Advisor on “The Yin & Yang of Leadership.” Her Video was filmed on a Dell Computer, financed by Citi, inspired by WPP, with refreshments from Coca Cola and hair products by Unilever.

UPDATE: Sandra has a CEO ScoreBoard CEO Paul Polman of Unilever appointed a woman to his ULE Leadership Team In addition, CEO Michael Corbat of Citigroup appointed another woman to his CEO Leadership Team in May soon after Sandra issued this challenge. CEO of Coca Cola Muhtar Kent has 4 Ladies on his Leadership Team and P&G has 12.

LEADERS some of my favorite speakers at Davos this year were Christine Lagarde, Head of the IMF , Drew Faust, the President of Harvard and Viviane Reding of the EU Commission (some of you may remember my Twitter Videos supporting Viviane during the EU debates on #WomenOnBoards). I was impressed with men & women speaking at Davos this year. I was delighted that my first Davos 2013 VIDEO was a TOP VIDEO for #WEF per Eventifier – that’s me the lady in white & pink.  I also was happy to have my THREE KEY VIDEO Questions for CEOs become top VIDEOS on Twitter at once. See my prior posts for my Questions to CEO Martin Sorrell of WPPGroup (Media & Advertising), CEO Michael Corbat of Citigroup (Banking) and CEO Paul Polman of Unilever (Sustainability & Consumer Products). With your views, these videos willbecome Top Videos on YouTube & Google for a search of each CEO (and were already Top Videos on Twitter) .GatesFoundationCannesChimerDAVOS 2013 Resilient Dynamism WRAP UP MESSAGE. @Nouriel @WEF Are you LISTENING? Many thanks to my THINKERS 50 colleagues @DTapscott @Tom_Peters and others for RTing me during Davos. I look forward to achieving my goal of 30%+ Women at Davos. Indeed DAVOS WOMEN are on a roll…. Sandra Rupp is on the THINKERS 50 Guru Radar list for the world’s top business thinkers. UPDATE: Soon after Sandra Rupp issued THE DAVOS WOMAN 30%+ CHALLENGE (click to view) to 5 KEY CEOs, CEO Michael Corbat of Citigroup added a 2nd Woman to his CEO Executive Team. STAY TUNED.
ThanksDavosWebsiteToday’s Davos Woman Question is for Bank CEOs. Leaders did you see the article in American Banker about the new Citigroup Executive Leadership Team? It points out that the new Leadership Team of 24 people is all male with the exception of one woman. When I attended a top school MBA program many years ago my class was 40% female. I also know from my work as an Executive Search Consultant and Executive Coach that there are many amazing and talented women for Boards & Executive Teams. So BANK CEOs I would like to work with you to achieve 30%+ Women on your Leadership Teams. Why? Because otherwise we are all missing out on the largest economic opportunity worldwide: Investing in more #DavosWomen.

STAY TUNED for more QUESTIONS for CEOs including tomorrow’s question for CEO Paul Polman of Unilever. We have a lot of important topics to cover, and DAVOS WOMAN IS READY TO ROLL….
