How would you feel if CEOs told you & your family How to Vote? For me, it is an alarming trend.

UPDATE: After this post, CEOs have cut back on telling employees and customers how to vote, so Sandra is buying Unilever’s TRESemme and Dove products again 🙂

I read a post in Harvard Business Review about concerns with CEOs trying to influence how people vote  There is even a PR research study on it. (Update: since this post there are articles in The Washington Post & the Naples Daily News on why “Consumers aren’t buying CEO Politics”). To me Politics, Business & Religion are three very different realms, and they should not tell each other what to do. I am very concerned by a trend I am seeing among a handful of mostly male Davos CEOs and today, on the day that the UK Votes on #Brexit I am speaking up. The Economist had a cover post recently about how people’s Freedom of Speech is under attack (even on social media) and how it is time to speak up. It is one thing if a CEO is asked by an employee or friend what their view is on a political or religious topic. It is quite another for CEOs to be tweeting or appearing in front of the media and telling employees and customers how to vote (one American banker threatened to take jobs away from the UK if they voted #Brexit and a California CEO has bullied US Governors, a female University President & NC’s Moms). Women executives have asked me to discuss this topic. WATCH my BREXIT VIDEO to UK-based Unilever CEO (he is one of my favorite CEOs but even he’s been tweeting how to vote on Brexit to his employees & customers (70% Women). They own Lever, Lipton, Dove, Axe, Hellmann’s & TreSemme. I highlight 5 Things people might want to know about Democracy. For the time being, I won’t be able to use their products as much as I really like his work on sustainability. It goes against my conscience. CLICK TO VIEW:

In terms of your Leadership style, are you a Hawk or a Dove? Did you know that it is the Highly Sensitive of any species that are the key to survival? Do you have the gene for High Sensitivity or High Sensation Seeking? Some of the most dynamic CEOs and Leaders in the world I have met have both genes, because they know how to take risks but also manage risk. Click here to take both Tests. Read this post by Dr. Elaine Aron at www.hsperson.com  to learn more. I am a Highly Sensitive Leader (a Dove), and I believe we need more Doves at World Economic Forum to help tackle the most pressing issues of the decade including Income Inequality, the Gender Gap and Terrorism. I am inviting Paul Polman, Imran Khan & other leaders to help me.

Now with viewers in over 65 Countries, Sandra Rupp is inviting CEOsLeaders to interview with her on camera either virtually or in person in a Smart TV Series “Five Questions to World Leaders.” Contact: www.parthenonadvisors.com and www.sandrarupp.com In 2011 she was placed on the cover of the Davos Debates Video by the World Economic Forum and asked CEOs & Leaders a video question on Innovation & Jobs. She is asking Leaders to bring two female delegates to Davos. STAY TUNED

LEADERS some of my favorite speakers at Davos this year were Christine Lagarde, Head of the IMF , Drew Faust, the President of Harvard and Viviane Reding of the EU Commission (some of you may remember my Twitter Videos supporting Viviane during the EU debates on #WomenOnBoards). I was impressed with men & women speaking at Davos this year. I was delighted that my first Davos 2013 VIDEO was a TOP VIDEO for #WEF per Eventifier – that’s me the lady in white & pink.  I also was happy to have my THREE KEY VIDEO Questions for CEOs become top VIDEOS on Twitter at once. UPDATE: Soon after Sandra Rupp issued THE DAVOS WOMAN 30%+ CHALLENGE (click to view) to 5 KEY CEOs, CEO Michael Corbat of Citigroup added a 2nd Woman to his CEO Executive Team. STAY TUNED.
ThanksDavosWebsiteToday’s Davos Woman Question is for Bank CEOs. Leaders did you see the article in American Banker about the new Citigroup Executive Leadership Team? It points out that the new Leadership Team of 24 people is all male with the exception of one woman. When I attended a top school MBA program many years ago my class was 40% female. I also know from my work as an Executive Search Consultant and Executive Coach that there are many amazing and talented women for Boards & Executive Teams. So BANK CEOs I would like to work with you to achieve 30%+ Women on your Leadership Teams. Why? Because otherwise we are all missing out on the largest economic opportunity worldwide: Investing in more #DavosWomen.

STAY TUNED for more QUESTIONS for CEOs including tomorrow’s question for CEO Paul Polman of Unilever. We have a lot of important topics to cover, and DAVOS WOMAN IS READY TO ROLL….

FAVORITE QUOTE: “Great necessities call forth great leaders.” ~ ABIGAIL ADAMS

(Note: This post has been updated with a new video.) As we get ready to cover The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting at Davos, I wanted to introduce an important NEW TOPIC: THE HIGHLY SENSITIVE LEADERS : Leaders for the 21st Century. Did you know between 15 and 20% of people have a gene for being Highly Sensitive (HSPs)? For more on that topic check out the wonderful research and book by Dr. Elaine Aron. I am happy to share that I am an HSP. In this video I also discuss the HSS High Sensation Seeker and how some leaders are both HSS and HSP (that makes for a very interesting leader). Now I am currently working on a special video series to introduce the topic of THE HIGHLY SENSITIVE LEADERS, because I have coached and advised many people who fit this profile. Many Highly Sensitive Leaders are introverts on the Myers Briggs Test, however at least 30% are extroverted. They include both men and women. They are often intelligent, intuitive and creative. All are very important to Leadership in the 21st Century. Indeed our very survival will depend upon The HIGHLY SENSITIVE LEADERS. Interestingly they may not fit a 20th century style of Leadership, but they are increasingly leading 21st century companies. Two are my favorite billionaires, and many are the CEOs, Entrepreneurs and Leaders I most admire. It turns out Sensitivity is a good thing in Leaders. STAY TUNED for Davos 2013. The theme this year is RESILIENT DYNAMISM. To achieve this, I believe it will take some Highly Sensitive Leaders to get us through the challenges ahead, and I look forward to working with them this year. And here are the Answers from Davos. Many thanks to the World Economic Forum:

Did you attend or watch the Davos World Economic Forum 2011 Meetings? I was very touched by the thought and commitment that the World Economic Forum founder Klaus Schwab, the organizers & participants put into these “debates.”  Personally I like to think of them also as conversations, the feminine equivalent, but I am comfortable with a good debate if there are also next steps discussed to move forward.

I watched two sessions on the Economy and one on Unemployment, two very important topics. I have previously met a couple of the speakers. Watching the discussions reinforces my passion for sharing & implementing my 7 Step Vision/Coaching for what I call The Yin & Yang of Leadership &  Investing in The Feminine Leadership Stylebecause I truly believe it is a large economic opportunity for all. More later from your Lady in Blue. In addition to being included in the Davos Debates 2011 Video of selected entrants (click to view my answer to The Davos Question on How Can We Create Inclusive Economic Growth), my Video Question: What are you doing specifically to Invest in Innovation & Job Creation? was also asked at Davos this year.
